Help Needed : Measuring Spoons

What kind of measuring spoon is the standard one in your country?

I have been looking for stainless steel sets of measuring spoons for 2 weeks now, which includes 1/4 tsp, 1/2 tsp, 1 tsp, 1 tbsp (more spoons are better). That is what I used to use in Korea. I didn’t bother bringing my old ones from Korea, because I thought it would be easy to find the same ones in Australia too, but maybe I was wrong.

I can see plastic measuring spoons or stainless steel ones with odd capacities such as 1⅓ tbsp or 1.25ml etc etc. I have tried Coles, Target, Big W, K mart, Robins Kitchen, and Myer, so if you happened to see one what I am looking for, please let me know. Thank you for your help.

Update – I found some. Thank you for your help!

    Sue,

Please let me know (you can find my email on my blog) if you can’t find the measuring spoons you need. I’d be happy to send you a set or two from the U.S. It would be a small token of appreciation for all the wonderful help you’ve given me in the kitchen!

I don’t know where in Australia you’re located, but in Victoria.. I haven’t seen any of those off measurements.
The standard cups & spoons can be found anywhere in Melbourne, especially those places that you mentioned.

I checked all the links you suggested to me.
Some of the tools are very stylish and tempting.
Hopefully with your help, I will find what I am looking for at a reasonable price. :)

I did a quick web search for Au shopping, so If you can’t find anything from the above sources, you can try this page:

It looks like they have several sets of spoons/cups that might meet your needs.

I bought these years ago in my hometown, Brisbane.

The standard (plastic) measuring spoons I have are – 1/4 tsp (1.25ml), 1/2 tsp (2.5ml), 1 tsp (5ml) and 1 tbsp (20ml). Measuring cups, for dry ingredients – plastic Tupperware brand – 1/4 cup (63ml), 1/3 cup (84ml), 1/2 cup (125ml), 2/3 cup (167ml), 3/4 cup (188ml), 1 cup (250ml). For wet ingredients – glass Pyrex measuring jug – the various measurements are: cups, oz (ounces), pint, ml. If I find any s/steel measuring spoons I’ll let you know.

Sounds like Australia follows metric measurements rather than imperial. If you scroll down this page to the middle – on the right hand side there is a conversion chart for spoon measurements metric to imperial. 1.25ml = 1/4tsp

those williams sonoma spoons are great, but my crate and barrel measuring spoons do just fine…and they’re less expensive!

My dry ingredients are measured using stainless steel cups and spoons (American measurements) from Williams & Sonoma. For wet ingredients, I have a glass Pyrex measuring cup (American measurements) and also a plastic Japanese one with metric on it.

    Sue-

I have two sets of measuring spoons: a stainless steel set for wet ingredients from Williams & Sonoma (not sure if they have branches in Australia) and one from IKEA for dry ingredients (was $5 USD or so).

There have been raves about a measuring “plunger” used by FoodTV “Good Eats” host Alton Brown. I hear it’s great for sticky ingredients that are hard to wash out (e.g., mayonnaise, gochujang) but the apparatus is hard to clean.

    Good luck!
