Look at this pretty little sushi, but like some movies or fairy tales that have a pretty woman that always turn out to be the evil one, I needed to be more careful when I tasted this sushi. The sushi tried to harm and threaten my life. It was my fault of course, because I am the one who made it. I just wanted to enjoy a relaxing solo lunch, but it didn’t quite work out like that.
Generally I love the taste of wasabi (Japanese horseradish). While I was squeezing the wasabi tube, I didn’t realized that I was squeezing it too much. I made 10 pieces of sushi and after taking some pictures, I tried the first piece. It was good but not excellent (I didn’t put any effort in this food because I wasn’t sharing it with anyone else). Then I tried the second piece and it started to burn my mouth and nose straightaway. I somehow managed to cope and then tried the third piece, then the pretty sushi’s evil plan was revealed.
My eyes and nose started to water and I could barely open my eyes. It was so painful but I continued to try the next pieces of sushi, because I had to complete my mission, which was finishing the sushi without wasting them. The forth and fifth were the worst of all. I couldn’t even swallow them. I had to spit them out and drank lots and lots of water.
Though the first thing I cared was the caviar. You know how expensive those eggs are. (US $7.40 for 250g) I was crying out, Oh~ my precious caviar~rrr. I was so sad, because I had to abandon those precious caviar, not because my favourite sushi was hurting me to much.
So my conclusion is; I am not going to post a recipe for this dish, to protect you from potential suicide, and don’t be a fool for beauty.

No, it is not a traditional Korean food, but it is quite a simple meal to cook. I’ve been suffering from time consuming dishes lately, so I needed a break. I wonder if this sushi is available in Japan. Kat if you are reading this post, please tell me!
I think, it can be a good picnic meal or dinner party appetizer.
Ingredients for 12 sushi rolls (Big meal for 1 person, light snack for 2 people)
- Freshly steamed white rice for 1 person
- Tuna 250 g (drained of its oil)
- 1/4 an onion
- 3 crab sticks
- 1 cucumber
- Dashi (mix these together) - Vinegar 1 tbsp, Sugar 2 tsp, Salt 1 tsp, Refined rice wine 1 tsp
- Salad sauce - Mayonnaise 3 tbsp, Pepper 4 sprinkles, Salt 4 sprinkles
Preparation
1. Cool down the rice for about 10 minutes.
2. Finely chop the onion, tuna, and crab sticks.
3. Put them into a bowl.
4. Add the salad sauce and mix it well.
5. Peel the cucumber skin off then thin slice the flesh with a peeler carefully. (Thickness about 0.2 cm)
6. Boil the dashi on the pan for 15 to 20 seconds.
7. Pour half of the dashi on the rice and mix it well. (You can add it more as needed.)
Making
1. Wet your hands in cold water then work rice (12 dough ball of rice).
2. Wrap the rice with cucumber.
3. Put the tuna salad on the rice.
4. Serve the sushi rolls on the plate.
Tips
- When rice seem to stick on your hand, use cold water. (have a bowl of cold water next to you.)
- The height of rice’s dough ball should be shallower than the sliced cucumber’s height. (to hold the tuna salad topping)

Whenever I go to Homeplus (big supermarket), there is a corner I always keep an eye on. It is a sushi corner. I often buy sushi at Homeplus. Only when it is cheap though.
Its usual price is 400-600 won each. But sometimes they sell any kind of sushi for 390 won each (US $0.40), like today. So I bought some. This is the picture of my portion and I always get the same stuff. (I bought 2 each of them.)
They are all my favourite.
- From the top: Red and yellow salmon caviar sushi, shrimp sushi, smoked salmon sushi.
Amongst these, the most expensive sushi is salmon caviar sushi when it is not on sale. I like them best too, because I like the popping feeling when I chew them.
If you go to Homeplus you should try some too. It tastes very good too.
