Korean style creamy fruit salad recipe.
Learn how to make this quick and easy creamy fruit salad. This Korean style fruit salad is a great side dish that goes well with both western style and oriental style meals. It is full of savory and sweet flavor too!
Have you tried Korean style creamy fruit salad before?
When I was growing up, I often tasted this fruit salad at a festive dining table. These special occasions include a birthday party, wedding reception, new year’s day and harvest festival day and so on.
While some Korean families still make this salad at home, you don’t see it as often nowadays. I don’t know why! So I’m sharing the recipe here as my personal time capsule item. 😉
What is in Korean Style Fruit Salad
The Korean name for fruit salad is 과일 샐러드 (gwail saelleodeu), but it’s also commonly known as 사라다 (sarada), which is a Japanese term for salad.
It often consists of cubed apples, persimmons, mandarin oranges, cucumbers, peanuts, hard boiled quail’s eggs and raisins. So it’s more than just pure fruit salad!
For sure, you can vary the salad contents with your choice of fruit, nuts and proteins according to your preference. And here are some additional / alternative options.
- imitation crab (surimi)
- sweet corn (from a tin)
- dried cranberries
- chestnuts
Try to prepare all these ingredients in even sizes. If you cut things too small, it can be quite annoying to grip and eat. I sometimes make that mistake with cucumber!
Once the ingredients are prepared they are then mixed with creamy mayonnaise. I have tried Kewpie mayonnaise as well as Heinz original mayonnaise in this recipe and they both worked well.
Also, some people like to add some sugar or honey to enhance the sweet taste. So, overall, the salad has a good balance of sweet and savory flavor.
I particularly love the taste of raisins and roasted peanuts in this salad. When combined with fruit, they give a nice surprise taste and texture.
Anyway, I hope you like it! Also, don’t forget to tell me what was your favorite part of this salad!

How to Store Creamy Fruit Salad
You can store unused fruit salad in the fridge for a day or two. Store it in an air tight container. Prior to serving, mix the salad well to coat with the sauce evenly.
In some cases, you may notice very lightly browned apples. It’s not as obvious as it is covered with acidic dressing, which helps with slowing down of the browning.
That being said, if you want some more tips on how to prevent browning apples, check this article. Also, chop the apple last once all the other ingredients are ready.
