Chargrilled Korean Style BBQ Pork Chops

Smoky and delicious chargrilled Korean style bbq pork chops!

Chargrilled Korean Style BBQ Pork Chops | MyKoreanKitchen.com

The weather is warming up here in Brisbane. Perhaps it warmed up just a bit too fast that summer seems just around the corner! (No kidding!) With warmed up weather, I’ve been seeing many groups of people having outdoor picnics and BBQ’s and it really made me itchy to have my own BBQ.

So I planned to have a Korean BBQ lunch and I invited my in-laws. (Well technically, I invited myself over to their place and took the meat and veggies with me as I don’t have a char-coal BBQ.:) )

Although Korean BBQ is very popular among many people, it is still quite an exotic variety for my in-laws. So I prepared western style meat, bone-in pork chop, which they were more used to, to make a Korean style BBQ.

I was very nervous about using unfamiliar ingredients for cooking at first but the result was a huge success and everyone loved it! I hope you get to try this recipe for your next BBQ!!

Ingredients for Korean Pork Chops (Serves 5)

Meat

  • 5 Bone-in, 4 cm thick, pork loin chops (combined weight 2.5 kg / 5.5 pounds)

Marinade (Blend these together)

How to Make Korean Style BBQ Pork Chops

Korean Style BBQ Pork Chops grilling on the BBQ

  1. Place the meat in a large sealable container and marinade it in the marinade sauce in the fridge overnight. (I marinade the meat for 26 hours. Marinade the meat at least for 12 hours to enhance the flavour.)
  2. Take out the meat from the fridge 30 mins before cooking. Cook the meat on a grill: Sear both sides of the chops 2 to 3 mins each on direct heat then move them to the indirect heat area. Close the grill lid and cook the meat slowly until it’s ready for your preferred doneness (about 15 to 20 mins).
  3. Place the cooked meat on an metal plate and cover it with aluminium foil. Rest it for 5 mins.
  4. Serve the meat and enjoy. (FYI, I served it with grilled pineapple rings and red bell peppers.)

  1. This is great. I’ll definitely have to try this recipe. It’s getting a tad chilly where I live in the US, but I’ve grilled in snow storms. Love grilling. Thanks.
